In 2010 Glasgow Caledonian University became Scotland’s first Higher Education institution to establish a postgraduate campus in London. GCU London focuses on postgraduate courses in banking and finance, risk management, construction management, tourism and fashion and luxury branding.

Entry Requirements

Foundation Courses

Academic requirements:

You need to have completed 12 years of schooling (or the local equivalent to meet the same standard) with very good grades, or show strong evidence of ability to complete the programme successfully and progress to their chosen degree.

English requirements:

Five term programme: IELTS 4.0 or equivalent

Four term programme: IELTS 4.5 or equivalent

Three term programme: IELTS 5.0 with a minimum of 4.5 in writing or equivalent

Diploma Porgrammes

Academic requirements: A recognised Foundation programme or International Certificate of Higher Education programme, the first year of a relevant undergraduate degree programme or A-Level equivalent in a suitable range of subjects.
English requirements:

Five term programme: IELTS 4.5 with a minimum of 4.0 in writing, or equivalent score

Four term programme: IELTS 5.0 with a minimum of 4.5 in writing, or equivalent score

Three term programme: IELTS 5.5 with a minimum of 5.0 in writing, or equivalent score

Graduate Diploma Programmes

Academic requirements:

An ordinary degree or equivalent, OR a 2-5 year diploma with good grades.

Candidates with lesser qualifications but more than 3 years of work experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Work experience is mandatory for progression to the Caledonian MBA programmes.

English requirements:

Three terms: IELTS 5.5 (with a minimum 5.5 in all subskills) or equivalent

Three or Four terms standard with Pre-Sessional English: IELTS 5.0 (with a minimum 5.0 in two subskills) or equivalent.

Three or Four terms intensive with Pre-Sessional English: IELTS 4.5 (with a minimum 4.5 in two subskills) or equivalent.

What's the difference between the 3 and 4 term course?

Lasting 4 terms, the Extended International Diploma incorporates an additional term of intensive English tuition on the same visa, and typically has a lower English language entry requirement.

If you need to study more than one term of English in order to reach the level necessary for academic study you should aply for the English for University Study course.

Tuition fees do not include:

  • text books and other learning materials: an additional cost in the region of £180 per academic course (three term), £240 per academic course (four term) and £300 per academic course (five term)
  • enrolment fee: an additional charge of £150 per academic programme (to be charged upon confirmation)
