Formed under the Royal Charter in 1955 the University traces it roots to the Royal Albert Memorial College and University College of South West England which were established in 1900 and 1922, respectively.
It is consistently one of UK's Top 10 universities and was named Sunday Times University of the Year in 2013. The University is one of the top 3 engineering institutes in the UK.
