ABOUT MANCHESTER METROPOLITAN UNIVERSITY, MMU

One of the younger universities in the UK, Manchester Metropolitan, often known as MMU or MAN Met was formed as Manchester Polyetchnic in 1970 and gained university status in 1992. The University traces its roots to Manchester Mechanics\' Institution (1824) and the Manchester School of Design (1838).

Despite its age Manchester Metropolitan is the 5th largest university in the UK, is placed in the top twenty for teaching quality inspection by The Complete University Guide and is ranked amongst the highest in the UK by the Quality Assurance Agency.
